Counselling for teenagers

Counselling for Teenagers
Adolescence can be a challenging time, filled with emotional, social, and developmental changes. As a counsellor with experience working in schools across the Wigan and Leigh borough, I understand the unique difficulties teenagers face today.

My work has involved supporting young people referred by CAMHS, GPs, and other services, helping them navigate a wide range of emotional and behavioural issues. These have included:

• Relationship conflicts (with peers, family, or teachers)
• Bullying and social isolation
• Self-harm and emotional regulation
• Bereavement and loss
• Anger management and conduct disorders

I also have extensive experience working with neurodivergent young people, including those with ADHD, autism (ASC), or those who are currently awaiting diagnosis. I take a neurodivergent-aware approach that respects individual differences and adapts to each young person’s needs.

Online Sessions
All counselling sessions are delivered online via secure video link. This allows young people to access support from the comfort of their own home, helping to reduce travel time, anxiety, costs, and logistical stress for families. It’s as though I’m coming to them—creating a familiar and convenient environment that often helps teenagers feel more at ease.

Confidentiality and Space to Talk
Before counselling begins, I will always have an initial discussion with the parent or guardian to understand the referral and answer any questions. After that, sessions are confidential, unless there is a safeguarding concern. This confidentiality is essential in helping young people feel safe enough to talk openly and honestly.

For sessions to be effective, it’s important that teenagers have access to a quiet, private space where they can speak freely and without interruption.

Fees
All sessions for teenagers are offered at a reduced rate of £28 per session, to help make support more accessible for families.
