Relationships can be deeply rewarding, but they can also bring pain, frustration and uncertainty. You may find yourselves struggling to communicate, feeling misunderstood, or noticing a growing distance. Sometimes old patterns or unresolved issues keep resurfacing, making it difficult to reconnect.
I offer a calm, supportive space for both of you to talk openly and honestly. A space where you can begin to understand what is happening between you, and work together towards change.
As a therapist, it is not about having all the answers. My role is to help you both explore your thoughts and emotions safely, and to support you in finding new ways forward. It is definitely not about siding with one person, but rather about being the third person in the room who can offer perspective and help you both find ways to express yourselves without defensiveness or argument.
I work with empathy and curiosity, helping each of you to be heard and understood. My aim is to help you develop clearer communication, rebuild trust and strengthen your emotional connection. Where needed, therapy can also support you in moving towards separation with care and respect.
Together we might look at:
• Unhelpful or negative thinking patterns and how they affect your relationship
• Evidence-based ways of challenging and reframing those thoughts
• Shared values that bring you closer, or differing values that may be creating distance
• Hopes, goals and the direction you each want to take, exploring whether these align and where compromise may be possible.
Sessions can be held via secure video link, allowing you to access therapy together from the comfort of your own space. Alternatively, sessions can take place face to face in my welcoming therapy room in Wigan Town Centre. The room is easily accessible via public transport, with parking available nearby.
Couples counselling sessions are £70 per session. A reduced rate of £50 is available for those in receipt of benefits.
